How to Stop Sharing Onenote

If you've shared a notebook with others and later decide you don't want anyone to have access to it, stop sharing.

Remove a Shared User

  1. Click the File tab.
    Remove a Shared User
  2. Click Share.
  3. Scroll to see who has access to the notebook.
  4. Right-click a user.
    Remove a Shared User
  5. Select Remove User.

    You could also change their permissions to Can View from here.

Disable Sharing Links

  1. Click Get a Sharing Link.
  2. Click Disable Link.

The link is removed and is now invalid for anyone you have sent it to.

Remove Shared Location

Another way to stop sharing is to move the notebook off of OneDrive.

  1. Click the Info tab.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Select Properties.
  4. Remove Shared Location
  5. Click Change Location.

  6. Select a save location.
  7. Click Select.

    OneNote lets you know the notebook is moved.

  8. Click OK.

The notebook is saved locally on your computer and all the sharing capabilities are removed.
